CANNING COLLEGE
Canning College offers mature-aged people a chance to improve their career opportunities with re-entry courses and education programs. Over 400 international students benefit from our services and the interaction with Australian students. The Career Information Centre (CIC) is a FREE library and advice service open to anyone for help with career and course ideas, and information.  We have videos that can be viewed at the centre or borrowed by schools, TAFEWA colleges and other groups. Computers are available for searching for occupational descriptions and courses (OZJAC) and accessing the JIIG-CAL Career Voyage program; a computer based career assessment package (bookings are essential).  For those in the country, a postal version of JIIG-CAL is available. CENTRAL TAFE

Changes to the School Leaving Age
The Department of Education and Training’s Participation Directorate can help students, parents / caregivers, schools and employers with information regarding the changes to the school leaving age. In 2008 the leaving age rose from 16 years of age to 17 years of age. Students now have to stay at school, attend TAFEWA, have an apprenticeship or traineeship or be in meaningful employment until the end of the year they turn 17. The Overseas Qualifications Unit (OQU) provides assessment, advice and information to permanent residents, non-permanent residents and Australian citizens about recognition of overseas gained qualifications and skills.

Parents as Career Partners
Of interest to parents and caregivers are the Parents as Career Partners seminars which are delivered by the Employment Directions Network. These 45 minute seminars will help parents and caregivers understand the current work and training environment as well as providing practical steps to assist your children with career planning. The seminars will provide parents and caregivers with very useful information on where the real career opportunities are for their children and where parents, caregivers and their children can go to get the right information on career, training and work. The Accommodation Services Directorate provides a home, together with the necessary to supports to enable adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities to have a good life.


The Accommodation Services Directorate has 140 households supporting 580 residents. Our houses and hostels are located within the Innaloo/Balga to Chidlow to Mandurah area.

PROCESS MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY TRAINING COUNCIL
Process Manufacturing covers a range of industries and currently has career opportunities available in all sectors. Where is it? Location, location, location. “Spatial” is an important part of our life and involves almost everything we do. Spatial Science is a rapidly growing, dynamic field including the disciplines of surveying, geographic information science and cartography. Nearly all aspects of industry, science and society require high quality spatial information – information which maps the geographic location of persons, objects and their relationships. Such information allows government and industry to make informed decisions on a wide range of economic, environmental and social issues. Spatial science integrates technologies of measurement, mapping, analysis and visualisation of data including global positioning systems (GPS), remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS).
